Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, considers his brainchild to be the antipode of the bankrupt FTX exchange, which was founded by Sam Bankman-Fried.
During a speech at a conference in Argentina on November 17, Vitalik began his presentation by displaying a photo of Sam on the screen with his quote, "I deal with cryptocurrencies because I want to bring about the greatest possible change for the better."
I think this is a great example of what happens if the principles underlying Ethereum are reversed. Therefore, ETH can be described in one sentence: it's completely different," commented Bankman-Frida Buterin.
Vitalik reasonably noted that FTX collapsed due to centralized management, which allowed Sam to take over the assets of clients and make a fortune from it. The Ethereum blockchain, on the contrary, is decentralized, and any changes to it are implemented taking into account the opinions of community members.
According to Buterin, due to decentralization, the ETH network cannot be malicious, unlike centralized platforms, which are sometimes led by villains. Traders understand this and often prefer decentralized exchanges based on smart contracts.
