Pavel Durov announced the November launch of the decentralized network Cocoon (Confidential Compute Open Network) based on artificial intelligence and the TON blockchain.
It will allow app developers access to affordable AI tools, the entrepreneur said at the Blockchain Life 2025 forum in Dubai, according to a Frank Media correspondent.
The network will be supported by GPU miners paid in TON, and Telegram will provide the project with "demand and hype," Durov noted. He added that Cocoon will allow users to use AI anonymously.
Explaining the project's essence, the billionaire stated that in recent years, people have been losing "digital freedoms," and the creation of decentralized technologies is the only way to preserve them.
In early October, Durov announced the opening of an AI lab in Kazakhstan. Its first project will be a collaboration between Telegram and the country's supercomputer cluster. The entrepreneur stated that in recent months, the company had been developing a new technology that combines blockchain and artificial intelligence. It should allow more than 1 billion people to use AI functions through the messenger application, which will be generated by a decentralized computer system in a private and transparent manner.
